Hotel Marbré

Hotel Marbré occupies a 1920s building in West Hollywood with bones too good to lose. We stripped back decades of additions to reveal the original plaster cornices, the cast-iron columns, the terracotta floors.

Each room was treated as a small private apartment: a deep tub of single-block travertine, a custom bed in cream bouclé, lighting on dimmers throughout. The lobby is a single long room — a fireplace at one end, a bar at the other.

We worked with local artisans for everything we could: the ceramics, the linens, the joinery. The hotel feels deeply of its place — calm, generous, never showy.

Hotel Marbré sits closer to our commercial interior design work than our residential — a 24-room property that has to feel personal and still run like a business. We detailed each room as a small apartment while keeping the things a hotel actually demands front of mind: durable finishes, a back-of-house that flows, and a turnover plan that housekeeping can keep to on a full night.

West Hollywood handed us the brief without saying a word — a 1920s building that deserved to be uncovered rather than redrawn. As with our hospitality and commercial projects across Los Angeles, the work was mostly subtraction: stripping back decades of additions until the original rooms could breathe again, then adding only what earns its place. The result reads as old and cared-for, not new and pretending. Guests still ask who the building belonged to before — which, given how much of the original we kept, is the best compliment the work could earn.
