Interior Design in Vaughan

Vaughan is one of the fastest-growing places in the country, and it shows in the housing stock: most of what we're asked to work on here is newer construction — big, open-concept homes built in the last two decades rather than the older, narrower lots we design around in Toronto. Woodbridge's custom homes lean Tuscan and Mediterranean, with formal principal rooms and high ceilings. Kleinburg mixes an actual historic village core with newer estate-scale builds on large lots. Maple, closer to the subway extension and Highway 400, runs denser again — townhomes and mid-rise condos where the layout problem looks more like a Mississauga condo than a Kleinburg estate.

The design problem in a lot of Vaughan homes isn't a lack of space — it's the opposite. A builder-finished great room, a spec-grade kitchen, and a basement built for resale rather than a specific family can add up to a house that's large but not particular to the people living in it. Our work here is usually editing: replacing generic millwork and lighting with something considered, and giving oversized principal rooms a scale and a material story that feels intentional rather than left over from the sales office.

Winters here are the same as Toronto's — heated floors in a primary bath or basement rec room are a common, reasonable ask, and a proper mudroom earns its keep for a household running two or three cars through the snow.
