Interior Design in Oakville

Heritage cottages in Old Oakville, lakefront estates toward Bronte — Oakville spans two very different housing eras, and we design across both: full-scope residential design and heritage-aware renovation direction, from a Toronto-based studio working across Halton Region.

Designing between two scales

Oakville asks a different question than most of the GTA: how do you add real living space to a house without breaking the scale a heritage streetscape depends on? Old Oakville's downtown core is full of 19th-century workers' cottages and grander Victorian and Edwardian houses near the harbour, many under heritage guidance that governs what can change at the front of the house. The interesting work usually happens at the back and inside — a sensitive addition, an opened-up main floor, a kitchen that finally works for a modern family, while the street-facing character stays intact.

Away from the heritage core, the town is also home to newer, larger houses along the lake in areas like Bronte and Eastlake, where the design conversation is closer to a typical high-end new build: big principal rooms, a real connection to the water, and glazing sized for the view rather than for a modest streetscape.

Being on the lake brings its own material considerations — wind and humidity off the water are harder on exterior finishes and window performance than a few kilometres inland, so we spec accordingly rather than treating it as a standard suburban build.

Questions, answered

Do you have a studio in Oakville?

No — we work out of Toronto and drive into Halton Region for site visits, trade coordination, and installs.

Can you work within Oakville's heritage guidelines?

Yes — we coordinate with your architect and, where the property requires it, the town's heritage review process, so changes to the street-facing character are handled correctly while the real design work happens at the back of the house and inside.

Do you take on lakefront new builds, or only older homes?

Both. Downtown Oakville tends to bring heritage-scale renovations; the lakefront areas bring larger new builds. We scope the engagement to the house.

Do you work in Bronte and Eastlake?

Regularly, along with Old Oakville — the lakefront stretch through Bronte and Eastlake accounts for most of our newer-build work in the town.
